Start with where you are

One scent, one verse, never changed

Home fragrance oil that leaves you knowing the verse by heart.

Our scented oils go in a warmer or a diffuser and make a house smell good, the same as any other. The difference is what each one is bound to: four passages of scripture on one theme, on a card you can print for nothing, and a code on the bottle that opens them. Read one while you pour, and the words start arriving with the smell on mornings you would never have gone looking for them.

For anyone who wants scripture nearer than a shelf, and for the person you are buying it for who is going through something.

A full ounce of undiluted oil, $24.00. Twice the half-ounce most brands sell.

The room is the point. This is where it goes, and where the verse turns up again.
Dried botanicals gathered in bunches, hung to keep their scent

One fragrance, one passage, and neither of them ever changes. That is the whole idea, and it only works because it never moves.

How it works

  1. One

Pick the season you are in

Grief, anxiety, waiting, starting over, gratitude. Twelve of them, and each one has a single scent that never moves to another.

  2. Two

    Five drops in a warmer

Water in the dish first, then the oil on top. Electric or tea light. A full ounce is months of them.

  3. Three

Read the verse while you pour

It takes four seconds and it is the only part that asks anything of you. Everything after that happens without you.

Twelve scents. One theme each, permanently.

A scent stays bound to its theme for as long as we exist. That is the whole mechanism, and breaking it would break the product.

The verses

All four passages, free, from the first day.

Every fragrance is bound to one theme and carries four passages that go deeper into it. All four are on this site from the day you buy, and on a card you can download and print yourself, free, in order and in full. The bottle carries a code that opens the fragrance page here, where each passage has the chapter it came out of and a song to go alongside it.

There is one bottle per fragrance, so reordering sends the same one again. Nothing is held back for it. All four passages are on this site and on the printable card from the start, and you work through the thread at your own pace rather than the post office's.

Why scent

Smell skips the queue.

Sight, sound, and touch all route through a relay station before they reach the parts of the brain that handle emotion and memory. Smell mostly does not. The signal goes straight to the amygdala and to the doorway of the hippocampus, where memory is formed.

That is why a smell can put you in a room from thirty years ago before you can name what you are smelling. The feeling arrives first. The word for it comes second, if it comes at all.

We are careful about what we claim here, including the parts that do not flatter the idea. Read what we don't claim.

Why we make these

Every note in every bottle came out of something that was made.

The first and greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart, all your soul and all your strength. Nothing we sell helps you keep it. This is not a shortcut, and it is not a discipline aid, and we would rather say that plainly than let you think otherwise.

Here is what it actually is. Bergamot, cedar, lavender, salt air, the resin that comes out of a fir when you cut it. Things that grew. Every one of them existed and smelled like that long before anyone thought to put it in a bottle, and somebody decided a tree should smell like rain and cold and wood.

We put four passages beside one of them, on a card you can print and keep by the warmer, so that on a morning you cannot pray, and there are plenty of those, something out of that same creation reaches you before you have managed to reach for anything.
